You need to do the following steps every time you send an email: In the window of “New message”, click “From” and then select “Other email address”. Enter your email alias and the email sent will use it as the sender.
After you successful register an email alias, it will automatically be associated with your UM@Connect account in 4 hours. All the email sent to email@example.com will delivery to your UM@Connect mailbox.

No. The email alias is only for email purpose. You must use your user ID (ex. ab12345) to login to the services, such as UMMoodle, ISW, Computer Room, etc.
You can apply an email alias by login https://account.icto.um.edu.mo/. Go to the Email Alias (UM@Connect) block and click “More”. Enter the email alias which you would like to apply and click “Submit”. If the email alias is accepted by the system, please wait about 4 hours for data synchronization. After 4 hours, please enjoy!
