  1. Click “Start” menu and click “Run”.

  2. Type “services.msc”.

  3. Right click on “Wired AutoConfig” and select “Properties”.

  4. Click the “General” tab and select the following settings:
    1. Set Startup type to “Automatic”.
    2. Click on “Start” and wait for the service to start.
    3. Click “Apply”.
    4. Click “OK”.

  5. Click “Start” menu again and click “Control Panel”.

  6. Double Click “Network Connections”.

  7. Right Click “Local Area Connection” and choose “Properties” for further configuration.

  8. Click the “General” tab and select the following settings:
    1. Double click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”.
    2. Select “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically”.
    3. Click “OK”.

  9. Click the “Authentication” tab and select the following settings:
    1. Tick “Enable IEEE 802.1X authentication”.
    2. Choose “Protected EAP (PEAP)”.

  10. In “Authentication” tab, click “Settings” button. Uncheck all the settings as shown in the picture.

  11. Choose “Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)” in “Select Authentication Method”, and then click the “Configure” button. Uncheck it and then click “OK”.

  12. After finished the settings, it will prompt up a message in the right corner of your notification area.winxpwired_p13e
    Please click the message box, input your UMPASS username and password. After finish, click “OK” to save your changes.

    The password is case sensitive and the username is in lowercase.
    If you are student, your username contains only the first seven characters of your student ID, e.g.“ba12345”
